Take Charge! Program*
The Take Charge! Program is the Oklahoma State Department of Health's Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, offered in conjunction with the OU College of Nursing. The mission of Take Charge! is to inform women about early detection of breast and cervical cancers to prevent unnecessary suffering and death. The OU College of Nursing's Take Charge! Program offers services at the college itself, as well as many locations throughout the community.
Cost and Eligibility
The Take Charge! program offers no-cost services to women who meet the following program guidelines:
- Age: Women between the ages of 19 to 84 are eligible for clinical breast examinations, pap test, and follow up referrals. Women 40 to 64 are also eligible for mammography screening.
- Uninsured: Must be uninsured or have high-deductible insurance. In addition, they must not be covered by Medicare or Medicaid.
- Income: Women must earn only 185 percent or below of the federal poverty level.
