Center for Cultural Competency
and Healthcare Excellence
Welcome to the Center for Cultural Competency at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing. Our goal is to serve as a vehicle for education and promotion of cultural competence among health care professionals and interested constituents.
Purpose
The purpose of the Center for Cultural Competency and Healthcare Excellence is to provide resources that ensure cultural competency in nursing education and research, and excellence in the delivery of health services to the diverse communities of Oklahoma.
Structure:
The Center is linked to the existing diversity programs, the American Indian Nursing Student Success Program, the Recruitment Enhancement Cultural Affirmation Project, and the Cultural Competency Leadership Fellowship. The Co-Directors of the Center are Kay Edwards, DrPH, FNP, BC and Beverly Patchell, RN, MS, CNS.
Functions:
The Center for Cultural Competency & Healthcare Excellence has particular focus on each of the teaching, research and service missions of the College of Nursing.
