The knowledge base of nursing is growing exponentially and it is difficult for nurses to keep up with changes in their practice area. To provide optimal patient care, nurses need to be able to evaluate current research and research-based standards in deciding how to improve nursing practice. While nurses at the baccalaureate and graduate levels learn about evidence based practice and how to evaluate nursing research, many nurses still lack basic knowledge about research that will allow them to read and effectively evaluate current nursing research literature. A method to increase nurse's knowledge of nursing research and EBP is needed so that nurses at all levels can begin to use EBP in their daily practice.
The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to and over-view of EBP for clinical nurses. Course participants will work through the EBP process using hand hygiene as an exemplar. The convenient online format makes this course perfect for nurses to progress at their own pace as they learn how to use EBP in their clinical practice.

This is an open enrollment, web based instructor led course.
Those successfully completing the online course will be awarded 32 contact hours by the College of Nursing.
