NURS 3025 - Clinical Nursing I - 5 credit hours
Focus is on practical application and understanding of basic psychomotor, cognitive, and affective nursing skills. Emphasis is on implementation of therapeutic interventions with clients throughout the lifespan, with attention to health promotion, disease prevention an health maintenance in various settings.
NURS 3034 - Human Experience in Health - 4 credit hours
The focus is on providing a theoretical basis for concepts of health promotion, disease prvention and health maintenance to individuals across the lifespan. Biological, psychosocial, cultural,environmental, throughout the lifespan, with attention to health promotion, and developmental determinants of health are examined.
NURS 3043 - Health Assessmen t- 3 credit hours
This theory lab course is an introduction to basic concepts of health assessment of individuals across the lifespan. The student will be prepared for basic assessment of individuals in the community and clients in stable condition in health care facilities.
NURS 3062 - Introduction to Professional Nursing Practice - 2 credit hours
Prerequisites: Admission to the College of Nursing This course is an introduciton to core concepts inherent to the Univeristy of Oklahoma College of Nursing Baccalaureate Nursing curriculum. Students will operationalize the concepts in course assignments and begin to develop a philosophy and approach to the practice of nursing.
NURS 3125 - Clinical Nursing II - 5 credit hours
The focus of this course is on the nursing care of individuals with biopsychosocial conditions within the context of their family and social structure. Clinical experiences will be in a variety of settings.
NURS 3134 - The Human Experience in Acute and Chronic Illness I - 4 credit hours
This course provides a theoretical basis for selected acute and chronic illnesses across the lifespan. The focus is on the use of critical thinking to develop rationale for nursing care of individuals with selected pathophysiologic conditions.
NURS 3143 - Family Focused Nursing - 3 credit hours
A theoretical course providing a basis for the health promotion, health maintenance, and health restoration of families. Emphasis is on nursing care relating to the family building childbearing process, common reproductive health conditions, and health concerns affecting infants.
NURS 3162 -The Human Experience of Disability - 2 credit hours
This theory course focuses on nursing care of individuals and families experiencing biopsychosocial and behavioral changes associated with disabilities. Critical thinking will be used to develop rationale for nursing care across the lifespan that maximizes restoration and healthy adaptation to these lifestyle alterations.
NURS 3182 - Pharmacology in Nursing - 2 credit hours
This theory course focuses on the nurse's responsibilities involved in the administration of drugs and the monitoring and evaluation of clients receiving prescribed and or over the counter medications. The general principles of drug activities are explored using a prototype drug for each class. Accurate dosage calculation is required.
NURS 3815 - Clinical Nursing IIA - 5 credit hours
Prerequisites: NURS 3025. Corequisites: NURS 3182, 3134, and 4043. The focus of this course is on the nursing of individuals with biopsychosocial conditions within the context of their family and social structure. Clinical experiences will be in a variety of settings.
NURS 3913 - Generic Masters Foundations of Professional Nursing - 3 credit hours
A lecture/discussion/clinical/laboratory course designed to introduce the Generic Master's student to professional nursing. The focus is on concepts of health promotion in individuals across the life span, nursing skills, the nursing process, and communication skills while developing a philosophy and an approach to nursing practice.
NURS 3926 - Generic Master sClinical Nursing I - 6 credit hours
This clinical/laboratory course for generic master's student is designed to provide an opportunity for practice in a wide variety of settings. Students add depth to their knowledge and application of nursing concepts and theories. Current nursing research is critically examined and its application in solving clinical problems is emphasized.
NURS 3960 - Honors Readings - 1-3 credit hours
Honors reading will consist of topics designated by the instructor in keeping with the student's major program. The topics will cover materials not usually presented in the regular courses. May be repeated; maximum credit six hours.
NURS 3980 - Honors Research - 1-3 credit hours
Will provide an opportunity for the gifted honors candidate to conduct a special project in the student's field. May be repeated; maximum credit six hours.
NURS 4020 - Clinical Nursing III - 2-6 credit hours
Prerequisites: NURS 3125, NURS 3062, NURS 4034, NURS 4043. The focus is on nursing care of individuals with complex physiological and psychosocial conditions that require advanced nursing skills, emphasizing restoration from and adaptation to the illness crisis experience within the context of the family or social structure. Clinical experiences will be in acute and community settings.

NURS 4043 - Psychosocial Nursing - 3 credit hours
The focus is on mental health promotion disease prevention concepts, theories, and nursing interventions. Cognitive, behavioral and affective changes that occur within individuals, families, and groups during the lifespan will be discussed in relation to promoting health and preventing, and ameliorating illness.
NURS 4062 - Nursing Research - 2 credit hours
This theory course focuses on the steps of the research process as applied to nursing practice. Critical thinking is used to analyze clinical nursing research studies.
NURS 4126 - Clinical Nursing IV - 6 credit hours
The focus is on nursing care for aggregates across the lifespan with an emphasis on coordination of health care in a variety of settings. Strategies for influencing health care policy will be explored.
NURS 4134 - The Practice of Leadership - 4 credit hours
Prerequisites (Co-requisites): Senior year standing. NURS 4062 and NURS 4126. This capstone course explores concepts necessary for the professional nurse to exercise leadership in the changing health care environment. The application of research to the clinical environment will be emphasized.
NURS 4136 - Clinical Nursing IV - 6 credit hours
Prerequisites: NURS 4020 Corequisites: NURS 4134, 4143, 4062. The focus is on nursing care for aggregates across the lifespan with an emphasis on coordination of health care in a variety of settings. Strategies for influencing healthcare policy will be explored.
NURS 4143 - Community Focused Nursing - 3 credit hours
Prerequisites: NURS 3143, NURS 3162, Senior Standing. This theory course focuses on the synthesis of nursing, social and public health sciences to develop health promotion, disease prevension and protection strategies for populations.
NURS 4152 - Contemporary Professional Nursing - 2 credit hours
This theory course explores the trends and issues affecting nursing and health care from a global perspective.
